Rescue Me

Dec 19, 2022

Our amazing adventures with Harry began when I saw a little photo on a rescue site, of a tiny Yorkshire Terrier who had a big boop nose and a sparkle in his eyes. We HAD to go and see him. It took all of one second after meeting Harry (probably before we even met him), to know that we wanted him as part of our family and to make him feel loved and happy.

We chose to adopt a rescue dog, instead of buying a puppy because we wanted to help dogs who have been in dire circumstances and need to be part of a loving family and to have a warm clean bed with blankets and food in their belly. I wanted Harry to only ever know love and peace from the moment we brought him home. Nothing but the best for him and was always told every day ‘I love you so much’.

Harry meant (still means) the world to us, he was a happy little boy who only ever wanted to please us and be around us like our shadow. Harry was so appreciative of any new toy, blanket of bed we bought him, and we loved spending time with Harry in the parks, woods, or beach. I’m so proud of Harry, my heart will never truly mend after losing him – but we do have wonderful happy memories that I cherish and cling on to in my darkest days.

There are so many rescue centres across the UK, many are well known and there are other smaller centres run by people who want to help animals out of terrible places and into their forever home. There are so many positives in adopting a new companion and they will give nothing but love in return. I believe that they truly are angels!

Here are some links to rescue centres across the UK (mostly England and Wales for now), so you can look through and hopefully find your perfect match. There are also options to foster or donate to these centres who desperately need help to keep going.

If you know of any other rescue centres in the UK, please comment below or email us and we’ll add them to the list. We’d like to promote all those wonderful people out there, helping animals every day, because without you, we wouldn’t have met Harry x
